About Master Kim
Master Seong Tae Kim (Chief Master and Owner)
Master Seong Tae Kim has over twenty-seven years of martial arts experience. Master Kim is a Sixth degree black belt in the traditional Korean martial art of Taekwondo, certified by the Kukkiwon. The Kukkiwon is the official World Headquarters for authentic Taekwondo. Master Kim was born in South Korea, and is a graduate of the world famous Yong-In University, where he was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education, specializing in Taekwondo. Master Kim is also a Fourth degree black belt in Hapkido. Master Kim is one of the elite few who is not only a Master in the arts of Taekwondo and Hapkido, but also has a formal university graduate degree in physical education and teaching. This combination of martial arts expertise and formal education is rare having the opportunity to train and study Taekwondo from such a Master is quite a privilege for the League City / Friendswood community.
After graduation from university in Korea, Master Kim toured with a professional martial arts demonstration team in countries around the world. Over the years, Master Kim has received many commendations from the Kukkiwon for excellence in teaching and dedication to the art of Taekwondo. Master Kim is also a certified international referee and certified coach in the martial sport of Taekwondo. Master Kim has helped many elite competitors reach their goals and become national champions.
Master Kim came to the United States over seven years ago with the specific goal of sharing his passion for teaching Taekwondo. Master Kim taught Taekwondo at a private school for over two years in New York. He then transferred to Texas and taught martial arts for a major fitness club. Master Kim supervised the operations at over ten major club locations and supervised the successful creation of new programs at other locations. No matter where he visited, Master Kim changed lives with his unique personality and teaching style. Master Kim spent over four years at this fitness club where he taught hundreds of students and promoted many to black belt.
Master Kim opened Texas White Tiger Taekwondo so that he could fully utilize his gifts and talents for teaching Taekwondo, and to fulfill his lifelong dream of having his own Taekwondo school. Master Kim's mission is to help all persons improve their lives through the practice of Taekwondo.
Master Kim, his wife Sunny, and his two sons, Isaac and Joseph are residents of Friendswood. Master Kim and his family are very active in the Korean Baptist Church and enjoy sharing their Christian faith with all.
